There are similar laws up here, but they said it's the same in other houses around here too.

I showed the landlady some information I had when I'd gone to school for building maintenance that indicated how much wattage appliances put out. I showed her what the wattages for heaters were and looked at mine, and showed her that it used less wattage than was listed.

I also showed her that appliances that she uses on a regular basis use up more wattage than anything we have. The older appliances aren't energy star certified, and I told her as much.

I think now she understands about that, and gave us something to block the draft from our door.

We can't get up to their place to do anything, so that's not an option.
