I have looked at other electric mowers and the extremely high prices have made them all out of the question. I was momentarily excited by the Ariens Amp until I found out that it still runs a hydro transmission with all the maintenance headaches of that.

I think if it will handle my hilly yard I will get one, even if it takes twice as long to mow with it, it will be time I can spend listening to the radio or books on tape, instead of with earplugs stuffed in my ears whiffing exhaust smoke.

Thanks for your time!

Hi Dee!

I'm sure that it will handle hills and heavy grass pretty well, it'll just go through the charge quicker and mow a little slower depending on the weight and steepness. The beauty of this mower is that it's a little smaller then an average riding mower, so getting into narrow or awkward places isn't too bad. We've got narrow gates and we get through with no hassle whatsoever.

Better a charge then the stinky gas. As for the grass catcher, it's fairly huge. Even with a big yard I think you could probably do it two or three times before you needed to empty it. Their website says it'll hold about "3 bushels(90 litres)" before it needs to be changed...I think that's pretty accurate. The thing is huge but really easy to change out.

I've had my iPod on while doing the yard and it's nice to be able to listen to some tunes while cutting the grass.

When you get one, let us know what you think!

RB.
