i live near pittsburgh pennsylvania.. we have 3 major rivers here and all of them have existing dams that were buiilt in the late forties i believe... these exising damns have huge potential to be fitted with hydo electric turbines.. i read an article years ago about an engineer who created such a setup and claimed that each dam could produce enough electricity for a small town! but of course nothing ever came of it...
but i feel that this kind of an attachment to existing flood control dams is a no brainer.. so why hasn't it happened?!?!
