I would also check out the Sierra Clubs announcements and myriad websites. I'm sure you will find something about groups that support, implement, and join together to plant trees. If you get some family or friends together, that might be a nice little project you could do together.

I know that a mentor group I was apart of in Houston (I now live outside of Dallas) got inner-city kids together to plant trees. The program wanted to teach the kids to give back to their community. I see this as an excellent way to get the young involved.
