Here, try these links and see if they're helpful. The first one I've already put in an enquiry for myself for something not environmental, but pretty important.
http://on-grants.grants-loans.org/index.php http://www.grantcanada.com/ Here's on geared for environmental businessess http://www.cegn.org/main.html I hope you find these useful. |

I have no experience in dealing with the Canadian government for such issues
BUT - something I recently discussed in a class - your post made me remember it... Many areas, in particular in the US - are now considered as economic entities and not just GEO/POLITICAL ones... ie (Northern NY and Southeastern Québec // TX or CA and the respective bordering Mexican regions) because of their close interaction with each other (tourism, economy, travel, immigration) So, my suggestion is : if you have experience in dealing with US grants etc, which I'm sure you're a seasoned veteran by now... then maybe this can be a back-door-approach....? I hope my backwards advice can offer some guidance. Cheers! T |

Hey there,
why get funding from the government when you can get funding from the United Nations? Yep. Apply with the UNDP (United NAtions Develpoment Program), it's a branch of the UN which bases itself solely on environmental issues and sustainable development. They were set up by the GEF some 15 years back. I've worked with the UNDP myself last year, saving a forest and everything. and believe me when I say that the UNDP gives enormous funding. I was going to ask them for money myself ( I wanted to create a free newletter a few months back ), they sent me the funding application paperwork, but then I got caught up in other stuff... and since you're from Canada, you should know that the Canadian Government donates a lot of money every year to the UN. maybe it's about time we actually use some of it, huh? anyway, good luck and here are a coupe of links: http://www.undp.org/ http://www.undp.org/canada/ http://www.international.gc.ca/canada_un/new_york/ http://geo.international.gc.ca/canad...rk/menu-en.asp http://geo.international.gc.ca/canad...rk/menu-en.asp |

I have a fair bit of experience with government environment projects, although more in terms of contracts than projects like this. One thing i can definitely tell you is that the funding levels for anything to do with the environment have dropped off significantly since the conservatives came into office. The difference is alarming. The Outreach group at NRCan would probably have been a good route for you, except that they had most of their funding cut - including their biggest project, the One Tonne Challenge. Environment Canada may have some money, although they have a hard time giving money away on account of very strict internal contracting rules.
Here's a more exhaustive list of Government funding programs: http://www.cbsc.org/servlet/ContentS...c=CBSC_WebPage If you're a non-profit, I'd strongly suggest you look into contribution agreements. Again, these are subject to funding, but from what I've heard, some divisions lost their funding for consulting and other such options, but have money for contribution agreements. This is one way that environmental or industry associations get funding. Good luck. |
