Educate them while they are young - like "Adventure Ecology" created by David de Rothschild. www.adventureecology.com

Adventure Ecology is an environmental group whose goal is to use expeditions as a way to teach 9-to 12-year-olds about the threats of different eco-systems through the world. The launch happened last spring when de Rothschild and three fellow adventurers crossed the Arctic Ocean, from Russia to Canada via the North Pole. British and Australian schoolkids followed the team's progress through podcasts while learning about the polar regions with a specially designed classroom curriculum.

The best way to get someone to support your Idea is to make them think it was their Idea.

How we fit this into global warming on a global scale? ya got me there. How do you make a polatician think its his idea to clean up the place?

Attend some local meetings - like the Board of Education.
I went to a meeting last night.
Someone spoke up about the prevalence of posion ivy all over.

Has anyone been reading about how poison ivy thrives with gobal warming
and the toxic oil (urushiol) becomes more potent?

P.S. I think people absolutely notice environmental change - they just may not give the rest
of us the satisfaction of being up front about it...

yes, talking about it is very important. Spreading information, news and alternatives & ideas. We have a bumper sticker that says- 'if you're not enraged you not paying attention'. I think this boils it down much. You are either someone who cares or not. Part of the solution or part of the problem. Too many people lack the neccesary skills to cope w/ the realities of our environment & it's correlation with our future. I grew up in southern california which is now a polluted pit to me. But many of the folks who live there wouldnt live anywhere else and love it. I think it takes a certain amount of denial to exist in that environment & still be able to cope & disengage the fight/flight mechanism that this kind of reality, if put in perspective, would induce. I'm not trying to be mean here. Just real. There are many ways in which we adapt our reality=mind to suit what serves the immediate without any concern for the future. This harms humanity dramatically. By spreading information we can hope to change how people think/function. Knowledge is power and spreading the word can only help.

it's too bad that the people who can really spread the message fast... (Media / Gov) aren't doing their best to educate people... if they did people would understand that the government has to do certain things to help the environment and some sacrifices would have to be made... and in turn it wouldn't hurt them in elections..

Yes, I completely agree. All these 'important' people who could REALLY be making a difference! They are the ring leaders of the inertia. And those who think the media & t.v. culture doesn't have the masses by the cerebral cortex are sadly mistaken.

It's important to let people know that there are things they can do about environmental problems--that what they do can make a difference. If you just tell them all of the horrible things that could happen--without pointing out solutions--it's human nature to close their minds to the message.

So when you're talking to people, talk about what you're doing, what you want to do in the future, and what you think your government should do. Take the attitude that we can beat this!
