How to make people notice environmental change?
What are some good ways of getting people to start thinking more about environmental health?

Quite simply just start talking about it more. Sometimes that's all that's needed. If people talk about something, they start thinking about it more.

Getting people to talk about it isn't easy though. For example not many people are going to read this unless they already care.

Many guests are on this site at any one time, and that might help too. If they read something important, they may relay it to others. Also, reading stuff in the papers does help to get the attention of others. For example, if I hadn't read here about the discovery of the new bird species, I would have read about it in yesterdays paper, which I did as well. So people who read the paper will read this kind of thing.

personally I would love to see more of people like David Kawasaki on tv... he seems like a major force that can sway people... and people do listen to him...

Re: How to make people notice environmental change?
David Suzuki is an excellent way to get people to learn about topics on the environment. I am a huge fan, and have been since early junior high science. If you wrote him I'm sure he would look into doing a special on climate change, (if he already hasn't). Talking about it helps, lately because of the weather in BC most people I know are talking about it. We have had an unusually dry start to fall. The media has only mentioned how beautiful it is, not how irregular it is. Disapointing to say the least. (not the weather, the lack of interest) ???

Re: How to make people notice environmental change?
The media only cares about nice news stories not the important stuff. The impact of a dry start can be damaging to the environment. It's bad enough to be plagued by forest fires in the summer, but there's still that risk now if it's so dry. Many of the forest fires can be prevented and are caused by careless people. If they were better educated about the risk, maybe there would be less man made fires. Nothing will stop nature causing the rest of them.
