First thing we need to do is reverse the arctic, antarctic , greenland etc ice from melting as more ice melts the quicker it melts and open water reflects the heat back up so it is trapped.
We also need to kick conservative and republican governments out of office. Since they tend to be the naysayers and like to deny the science and think it is all natural when in fact some is natural but we have caused it to increase. We need to start seriously utilizing solar panels, tidal power, windmills and thermal heating more. Governments need to start passing laws that all new houses, buildings be as green as possible with solar panels mandatory as well as thermal heating and 'community windmills' in each new neighbourhood or subdivision. Aim for the complete ban of fossil fuel combustible vehicles by 2020 and make them all get 50 mpg by 2012. It is possible and car companies would figure it out if they were forced to. We need to offer greater rebates and tax deductions for people buying 'green vehicles'. Public transit, Lrt needs to be expanded in many areas and should be free and tolls should be added for people driving to certain areas, over bridges as encouragement to get out of their cars, "Green Vehicle' should be exempt from tolls. I also would suggest a 30 cent a litre 'environment tax' on gasoline. Piss on what the oil industry has to think as they are one of the worst polluters and just look at Alberta to see the destructive damage they have caused to rivers, soil, wildlife etc. Yes even deer, elk has been affected and in certain areas no longer safe to eat. We need to stop our heavy reliance on dirty filthy fossil fuels. We need to increae fines for forestry companies, mining companies and oil companies that break the laws to 7 figures as it is now it is cheaper to just pay the fines. They need to know no more Farting around and it is time to get serious and a 7 figure fine might just make them think twice. We also need to hire more people to check up on these environmental terrorists. (Btw I am working on an article about this and a few other things and should have it up Friday or Saturday I lived up North and I saw what forestry and oil companies carnage that they leave behind)) I really don't know what we could realistically actuallydo to reverse it or if we even can reverse it (Stop electing right wing governments and we may have a chance but I think we are realistically past the point of no return) but we can defiantly slow it down but no political will to do it even though many people want it done and since so much resistance from certain governments like Harpers and Bushies who seem to be more concerned that big oil et al continue to make money and they forget they are elected to represent people not corporations. |

I agree on all your soloutions to slow global warming(GW) ... but we wont find plausable ways to reverse GW with out think of extravigent stuff that wont work. You have to look at the trend were in to see wether or not slowing/stoping Gw will make a diffrence any more. I think its to late to slow/stop but we still have a chance to reverse ( but we need to slow/stop) while trying to figure out how to reverse it!

The famous "White Cliffs of Dover" in England are made of chalk, calcium carbonate. Another form of calcium carbonate is limestone. That's how nature sequesters carbon, countless little exoskeletons of marine life, diatoms, sift down to the sea floor and pile up in thick layers.
We can reverse global warming by helping sea life capture more carbon. All plants use carbon dioxide and exhale oxygen. Tiny little plants in the sea can capture far more carbon than all the plants on land. When they die, they fall to the sea floor building up layers of calcium carbonate. Many areas of the sea are "deserts", supporting very little life. In most cases, these "deserts" have enough nutrients except for one vital trace element, iron. Nature supplies much of the oceans with iron via dust storms off the Sahara and other deserts around the world. Still, there are vast areas of the seas that are iron-poor. Some in the science community have suggested spreading ordinary iron dust in these dead zones to stimulate phytoplankton growth and have actually done it in a few test areas. It did stimulate phytoplankton growth but others in the science community are horrified at what they perceive to be meddling in natural processes. I don't understand this argument; it seems to me that we have already meddled far too much by adding so much CO2 to our atmosphere! I think we should clean up our mess. |

Perhaps the discovery of a giant Siberian mammoth recently found will be able to shed some light on other causes and effects of global warming. Please take a look at this link at MSNBC.

All the searching and all the evidence found is not going to do anything for us. We need to take action now! We need to get our governments around the world to work faster. From everything I have read we've got about 10-20 years left before we get covered in water. Of course, to put a funny spin on this, we could always set up a giant freezer on the north and south poles and make all the politicians pay the electric bill for it.
