Default Ben and Jerry Eco-college Now Online

For the past few years ice-cream makers Ben and Jerry have held a Climate Change College in Europe – a program which aims to inspire 18-30 year olds to deliver business orientated solutions to Climate Change and have fun; and now they have launched a series of online modulesfor everyone to study.

Each year eight students from France, Germany, Ireland, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the UK are selected to take part in the College, which consists of a nine month business mentoring program, a grant to launch a climate change project and a three week, carbon neutral, scientific field trip to the Arctic, to enable students to get a first-hand knowledge of work being done to combat climate change.

Selection for the College is extremely tough, three finalists from each country are invited to Brussels to present an idea for a climate change solution project that not only reduces CO2 emissions but successfully changes behavior, with the winning projects given support to get off the ground. You can find the entire article here http://aboutmyplanet.com/climate-cha...college-online

Wow. That is very interesting. It is so great to see some of the bigger companies get in on things to help the environment.

Interesting online modules, thanks for the pointer. I'm going to have a closer look at those later. it's well worth reading through the stories from the Ambassadors too - really inspiring. It just shows that each person CAN make a difference!

This is fantastic! I agree the modules are very interesting. I like the idea that the Ambassadors are talking about it too. I'll be checking into it a little more later to see what else they offer.

Thank you for sharing this site. I have bookmarked it to check the modules out more later. I agree that what they are doing is great and will get more people involved in the climate changes.

Ben and Jerry have always stepped up for causes they believe in, I tell myself that's a good reason to eat lots and lots of their ice cream!
I saw on the news last night that B&J are going to make an ice cream named after Barak Obama. They were talking about a Barakyroad which made me very happy. Do you know that marshmallows (except Kosher) have animal product in it? Gelatin and glycerin come from animals. I was heartbroken when Baskin Robbins started using non-kosher marshmallows in their ice cream a few years ago and since then I have tried to content myself with inferior rocky roads. I will look forward to Barakyroad for sure!!

I'm not sure that that is a good idea, unless they're going to produce one for every politician. I certainly don't want to be seen to be giving my support to one politician / political party via my choice of ice cream! A bad decision by Ben & Jerrys, I feel.

Please don't take that as an indication of my feelings towars Obama. I would feel the same whoever the politician in question was.

That's a good point, Green. They should make an ice cream for each candidate. Maybe we can think up some good ice cream ideas and help them out. How about Candy McCaine? Or Hilla-Reeses Pieces? Yum, yum!!!

I'm sorry, I just don't like the idea of eating a candidate. It does not sound nice to me. It sounds kind of strange in fact.
