Default Arizona

I live in arizona and have since '92. In these years that I have been here the summers have gotten longer and the winters shorter and warmer. The "brown cloud" is getting thicker and my breathing worse(the air just seems thick). The margin of growth I would say has doubled in the last 5 years and nothing has been done to control the reasons for these effects.

I just wanted to vent that off my chest.

I was in Tuscan about six years ago and did not notice this. I find this so sad that the air quality is getting worse their. I know people that have moved their over the years because it is supoused to be a good place to go if you have breathing problems. Do you find a lot of people in the area concerned about this problem also?

Arizona is most definitely getting worse in the quality of its air. I know in Phoenix, where I live, it is getting bad. I also realize the reason that Arizona has been lax in its realization. Here in Phoenix, which is spread out over a vast area, nobody was worried because Phoenix is so spread out and the winds we get each year usually would blow everything out the valley. Now, they are trying to stop the spreading out and get it to go up instead. In turn, this brought more people to Phoenix, which brought more pollution. Phoenix is now, I do believe, the #5 largest city in the country. And with that distinction comes the pollution.

I remember as a child living here that the sky was the prettiest blue I had ever seen. It's now slightly gray blue most of the time. Every once in a while the wind will blow enough and that pretty sky will return. But, I doubt that there is much they can do now that they gray has moved in. Maybe if they took everybody's car keys away . . . :-)

yep rogue you are right, the beauty has been lost and the sky's are now grayish but not because of rain clouds , but because of the pollution cloud, some of it however is from so much of the construction in the outer desert areas.

organiceverafter, you are also right. Some of that cloud is from construction in the outer areas. But part of the pollution cloud has come over to mountains of Los Angeles and San Diego thanks to the wonderful Santa Ana winds we get every year. It was so generous of those towns to share!

ha how funny sarcasm I love it, and are we not supposed to share with are neighbors in need.

I work in the east valley and do a little work on mountain tops so I get to look out over the valley to the west and usually I can't see down below me, just a blanket of gross.

Then you got to see the pretty blue sky! Thanks to the rain. That is unless you got flooded away. My yard is actually turning green. :-)

Wow, I did not know this about Arizona. It has been many years since I had passed through there. I didn't realize how it has changed.

Changed? It is a completely different place than when I was a kid. Not only is the air-quality bad most of the time, but the neighborhood I grew up in is gang ridden. You couldn't pay me to live there now. Worst thing is, the neighborhood I live in now is almost as bad. Too many people out of work!
