Default Cool Cities Initiative

Has anyone heard of Sierra Club's new program, Cool Cities (at Cool Cities - Solving Global Warming One City at a Time)? It's sort of a grass-roots team building initiative that anyone can join to help "green" their own city.

I hadn't heard of that, it sounds good, and you can basically trust the Sierra Club. They have been around forever, and have no other agenda but the environment. I'll have to check this one out!

Very cool. I like this idea because it seems like one of the few out there that could actually stand a chance of making a difference. I think grassroots campaigns are often best because they don't depend on big ideas and unrealistic goals.

Wow, Phoenix is one of the cool cities! I didn't know this. I have not heard anything about this either. I'm definitely going to investigate further. Thanks for the information.

that's pretty cool.. and over 1000 cities have now signed up. Just shows you that people left to their own devices at grass roots level will do their best to make a difference... the problem is getting those in charge at State and National level to do the same..

Very cool. I'm glad to hear that so many cities have already gotten on board with the initiative. Government bodies will at least have to be the matter a bit of attention with this much attention put toward the matter.

This is the first I have heard of this. I have bookmarked it to look it over more later. My city was on the list. I was really glad to see so many cities signed on also. Thanks for sharing this. I am going to pass it along to a few I know will be interested.

stav, you are so right! We need to light a fire under the State and National governments. But, with our luck, they are probably wearing asbestos bridges and won't feel the heat.

I think it's great when you find your city on the list. I know it gives my students incentive to keep at it.

Unfortunately, my town is not on the cool cities' map. We've got no pollution here, really, since we're on the beach. We do have alot of clean-up programs and such...
