Default Printing greener

Was at earthday last Sunday here in San Diego, visited this booth printgreener.com. Very cool idea. I downloaded the software but am still figuring it out but I was told it's simple. Anyone else using this?

it's free I guess because corporations pay for it. I've been using the back sides of paper but I just recently realized I've been leaving a bit of the ink from the already printed on side in my printer and hence messing that up and don't really want to end up breaking a perfectly great printer. Haaaaa, always a flip side to when I try to be environmental. Anyhow, that was what I liked about this concept. cheers.

So what is it that this software does that you can't do yourself?

I haven't got a printer at home. I just never got round to installing it again when I moved, and I find that it really focusses the mind on whether something really needs printing or not if I have to head out to the net cafe to do it!

I'm curious what exactly this is supposed to do, too. Have you had any success since then?

I don't know anything about the software greenbean mentioned, but I have taken steps to restrict the use of the printer at home. Now only one computer is connected to the printer, so my teenagers have to send whatever has to be printed to that computer first. The extra effort means they don't print loads of unnecessary junk the way they used to, it also saves paper. I have my cartridges refilled too, there is a shop locally that refills cartridges.
