I think it is great to see average people doing stuff like this. It only goes to show if the average person can do this then the bigger car manufacturers should really have no problems doing this also.

It's great. It proves that it's possible. And with the price of fuel increasing, I reckon there will be a lot more people trying to do the same thing.

I think it's crazy to see the numbers, but amazing that they're using all these little techniques to stretch their gas mileage. Kudos to them.

I think I'd stay away from the death turn. Too scary, especially cutting off the engine. I truly hope people out there are won't be attempting the death turn. It would be wasteful to wreck a car (or get hurt) trying to get better gas mileage.

yes, like always people should use their own judgement and factor in road conditions and other drivers before attempting a few of those tactics. i have been shutting down at long lights and while coasting down hills and have seen a small difference in my average.

As my mom likes to say, gas usage increases exponentially with speed, and unless you drive under 55mpg you're going to be wasting gas. Of course, on most highways if you attempt that you're pretty much run off the road by other drivers.

I saw this on CNN earlier today. Very interesting stuff, although slightly dangerous!

It does seem scary and dangerous. This is something I would not want a new younger driver to know about.
