Default very cool way to measure energy

this is cool, the more energy you use the more the cord glows, giving you a general idea of how much energy a perticular device uses...

I want one

Hmm wouldnt the energy required to make the chord glow add some un needed energy consumption? Just a thought.

true but it's not something you would use all the time... I think it could be used as an educational tool for kids... for adults who really want to know how much energy items use would probably buy some kind of a meter that gives you a readout of what they're consuming.

Yeah, it definitely sounds like a good thing for teaching. I used to be a physics teacher and that would have been a great way for the kids to actually see what was going on. Much better than using some metres and doing a calculation!

That would come in handy especially when I'm online as often as I am. Not to mention when we've got a lot of electrical devices running at once. They should make something that tests numerous devices at once.
