That's an interesting perspective. I've been reading an article on Ecopsychology by Theodore Roszak et al. Guilt about the abuse of the earth, lack of defining milestones and rituals (spiritual), disconnectedness from the earth all are contributing factors to fanatical behavior (not only terrorists but extreme religious movements, gangs, etc).
I more troubled with the current situation of our environment. it is continuously deteriorating and we have to move fast. I understand very less work has been done to this direction and world wide mass education is the need of the day. Can someone suggest how best we can spread the awareness? |

Do you want the best way? or the fastest way?
Because those are two quite different things, the best way could take a very long time, but not have as much of a societal destruction of the races. If we pursue the "best" way by many standards it's best done through a trickle of money into countries and as this happens we can use propaganda in the more advanced countries to attempt to change people. Though as it is well known, you can not alter natural instinctual psychology. And the fastest way...well...not the best for the environment either. I guess what i'm trying to say is that it is impossible to make people completely follow a guideline, although very correct, under such complicated circumstances as "Global hatred with an impossible Global respect." -saul- |

I’ve been doing online degreeson Ecopsychology from ecopsych dot com “Institute of Global Education” special NGO consultant to the United Nations Economic and Social Council. It makes a landmark contribution to personal, social and environmental well being. For the benefit of person and planet, we must support those who want to learn, use or teach this wide-ranging science. View the film trailer via ecopsych dot com/DVDvideofilmkey html

Hopefully the new American government in 2008 will take some actions because the current one is obvioulsy not. In fact many still deny the circumstances such as global warming. If the government takes action then the people will definitely follow, especially if its in the right direction for once.

Nice term. Really makes sense when you think about it. It can be introduced in schools as an extra subject & if taught from a tender age many kids could grow up to be passionate about it, like their favorite subjects, like math or physics. These kids may do wonders as adults later for the environment.

I have noticed, as I'm sure many teachers have, that students behave differently when they're enjoying the outdoors. My hyperactive students seem more focused and less aggressive. I would be interested to know which universities offer courses in ecopsychology.
