I went to hear Al gore talk a few days ago, apparently any city near the ocean will be gone in 25 years or so due to rising seas.

So I guess a houseboat is the only way to go?
It does sound omnious. This is why it is our duty to spread the word. If we only get one person to do one thing it will add up.

Both are awful. Having your beautiful house sink in rising sea waters or the scorching heat in mid winter are good examples of warming.

I would be worried about rising sea levels and storm surges if I lived anywhere in the Lower Mainland. Give some thought to moving to the interior. We are well above rising waters, our cost of housing is much lower, and our winters are becoming milder.

Unfortunately, most of the world's population lives in coastal areas and are vulnerable to rising seas. Obviously many will have to move to higher ground. We are fortunate because we can. Subsistence farmers in Bangladesh aren't as fortunate, there isn't much high ground and it's already occupied.

I was just reading that the area of the world's oceans is 139 million square miles. That is a big number to get your head around. I suppose it will be increasing as the years go by.

The earth is covered with two thirds water. One third is landmass and ice. When the ice melts three quarters of the world are will be covered in water if not more. So if you're any good at math, figure out how much landmass will be left.

Rising sea levels are a concern for more than just people living on the coast. If things keep going the way they are then future generations even further inland are going to have to worry about typhoons, hurricanes and more as sea levels continue to go up.

This would be a good time to start improving the underwater habitation devices that they have been playing with for years. I do believe that at least 75% of the population will soon be living under water. Possibly within the next 100 years.

Well hopefully we can start changing the ways in which we view the world in order to stop that from happening. I'd rather see better long-term choices being considered than trying to figure out how to live underwater or in space!
