Stop Light Electric Gas Station?
Interesting idea
"Others have imagined terrestrial networks of power-beaming stations that could fuel electric cars and other vehicles, which would essentially "top off" every time they passed by a station. Some could power up vehicles at stoplights."

Quite interesting. I wonder how it would work.

Re: Stop Light Electric Gas Station?
You could do it by the fact that everything resonates. Everything vibrates at a certain frequency. Think of a tuning fork making a note. If you produce that note from somewhere else the tuning fork will start to vibrate as well, it will gain energy. But other things in the room won't. You've all heard of the shattering glass trick? It's all about getting the correct frequency. Your microwave works by using the frequency of the molecular bonds in water.
It is possible to beam power that way.
(this is also why soldiers have to 'break step' when going over a bridge, otherwise their marching in unison could break it down.)

I like the sound of that. Someone should try it soon.

Re: Stop Light Electric Gas Station?
If that was an idea that worked and was instituted who would pay for it? Would everyone get a bill every month for $100 for electricity? Tax money? What do you think. Very cool idea by the way.

Shadowbot: An easy way of doing it would be to fit a car with an RF ID tag of some sort that activates it, so as it beamed you power you told it you were there and it added it to your bill.

Oops, can we say I must have been tired when I posted my comment yesterday? I completely misread what shadowbot had written. I only saw it now. :-[ :-[
