Default 14 billion in funding

Well, this is a really, really nice drop in the bucket!! A 14 billion dollar transportation plan was announced today for British Columbia. It includes skytrain, hundreds of environmentally friendly buses, some plans for bikers (but it doesn't look there was actual funding attached to it), bus only lanes on busy thoroughfares, etc.

No real details were told, however, it sounds like they're really funding into some transportation infrastructure.

The local news spent over 1/2 hour on it today. Big day!

Plans to build the Evergreen line and out to UBC are not new. A lot of it is not new.

I wonder if Ottawa will pay up? With Harpers view on the environment I would say no but Campbell announced it a day after having Dinner at Stevies so maybe there is Federal money coming? Plus Harper needs votes in Vancouver..

I live in Surrey the second largest city in BC and soon to surpass Vancouver as the largest and there is not much for us.

I can go to other areas in Surrey in no time by vehicle but it takes 2-3 buses and transfers if I go by bus.

Translink has been a poorly run organization, none of the current board members ride transit so......

People that actually use the system should be on the board that has all this power to increase property taxes, gas taxes and all the other levies like the one on your hydro bill for transit. Better yet they should be elected.

We do not live in a 9-5 world anymore and if we want to get people out of their vehicles we need Rail and more buses with better service and better service in non rush hour time periods.. It is 'rush hour' almost 24/7 here now anyway.

That's great! It only means that the British government are more aware of their surroundings. This would only mean less traffic.
