So across the street from us are 3 drug, gang, and welfare bum infested buildings. Toronto community housing corp runs these buildings.

First off, what I notice are all the lights that are on 24/7. All night they burn bright in most units. People don't have lives in these buildings. I'm surprised that TCHC wouldn't regulate electricity usage by tennants there.

Second, about a month ago, one of the buildings went through some minor exterior work. However, the crew of 2 guys working on the brick would take about a week off at a time and not get anything done. They did a line of brick work on5 floors of one building and then left The kids had their normal play area cut off for a month for something that should have only taken a week to do.

Lastly, for some reason, TCHC has decided to tear up the driveways that clearly don't need to be paved. They start work at 7am, and go for most of the day. What I don't understand is why they'd cause so much pollution with their trucks, doing needless work when most of their buildings are so run down and need maintenance.

Hello,

It sounds like the social aspect of the community needs some major leadership and structural renovation. I am sorry to hear about this. For a lot of people, living in a safe community precedes the environment. This is one of the reasons people don't see the interconnectedness of all llife here on Earth.

The problem is that it's not a safe environment. This is a welfare community on a gang infested street, where shootings have been commonplace for a little while. A couple guys got shot across the street earlier in the summer, then someone got stabbed during the world cup of soccer.
