Hello all--

I recently interviewed a woman from Guatemala name Juana Cholotio, and after 90 minutes on the phone with her, was quite moved by how a fair trade company called the Mayan Connection has helped her to improve her life. I wrote a story about Juana that attempts to create the same sense of personal connection to her that I felt during the interview.

I have no commercial relationship with the Mayan Connection. I am doing this as a regular feature on my blog to promote fair trade businesses that are helping people. I want to give the company as much exposure as possible because, as explained in the story, the more business they get, the more women they help—and these people need help. Also, as the story explains, the business does a number of things to minimize their impact on the environment.
