Lightbulb Boycott high gas prices.

My boss had a thought a couple days ago.

She suggested that we start a blog and advertise it boycotting the high gas prices.

For 3 days, people shouldn't buy gas, and maybe the government will figure out that prices are far too high.

Help me promote this.

From June 30th to July 2nd, don't buy gas at all. Fill up before then, and don't bother using a gas station for those 3 days.

Anyone with me on this?

I like the idea but I don't think a full tank would take me for three days. I just wish this would be something everyone would do just to see what they would do.

I'm already doing it. I filled up on Friday and haven't bought since. But I really haven't been going anywhere, so it's been easy.

I posted this on another forum and got such negative feedback that it floored me, made me thing that it's not going to be a wise idea.

I don't know anymore. I'm going to discuss it with my boss tomorrow.

I'm going to give this a try because I think it's a great idea! If we all boycotted and I mean all of us, there'd be changes!!! I'm sorry for all the negative feedback you're getting on the other forum. Keep on fighting the good fight!

I think it is not a bad idea but then I was also thinknig that gas price hike is a global phenomenon and sooner or later it will hit us...so the government is not at fault..really...

Well I hope enough people take initiative and do this. It's a pain watching the prices jump all over the place.

It was sad today watching them. Some sat at just over $1.35, some at $1.33, and one lonely station sat at $1.30.

If anyone is in Scarborough looking for the cheap one, it's called Spriro's or something similar, it's at Kingston Road and Fallingbrook.

I don't quite get why anyone would give you such a hassle for suggesting this. I mean if you don't agree then just say so and move on. I hate when people have to get so defensive.

Me too. I got very blunt in my last message on that forum about what people were saying.

Quote:
f the oil companies aren't delivering oil, they'd be feeling the pain of a boycott as well, not just the gas stations.

I still haven't filled up, and it's been 5 days. Sure they're not hurting because of just one person, but think of the impact of millions of people doing the same thing.

Even if it's on a weekend when people don't go out as much, maybe that would still drive the message home.

Gas prices are far too high, and something needs to be done.

By people sitting and not doing anything, the prices will continue to stay high.

Making a stand and starting to fight for something important like this will make a difference.

Another idea I just had is to start a petition, get as many people to sign it, then broadcast it all over the news, send it to the government officials, the oil companies and anywhere else people think it should go.

Simply saying it's not a good idea means you're part of the problem or that you don't care to help fix it. That's sure what it seems like to me.

Boycott high gas prices Petition : [ powered by iPetitions.com ]

My petition, please sign it and spread the word. Hopefully with enough signatures and enough promotion, this can make a difference.

I only have 4 signatures on my petition so I need people to sign it. It's not enough for government officials to have the price dropped for one day, we need something permanent.
