Recharge Mower
I wanted to take a minute and expound upon my love for the Recharge Mower, a new green running lawnmower.
My family made the decision to become environmentally conscience about a year ago. It's not always been the easiest thing but with a little research, we've had a lot of success. It was quite by accident that we stumbled across the Recharge Mower.
We'd made the decision to get a riding lawnmower due to some health issues and never really expected to come across anything green. Imagine our thrill when we found the Recharge Mower.
The Recharge Mower runs on battery power, so that means no motor. No motor, no emissions. The Recharge Mower runs for about 3 hours(that's cutting time). In that time we can usually get our lawn done twice. The best part, it's super cheap. For a full charge, our mower costs about 55 cents.
A green machine that's cheap to run. Is there anything better?

Re: Recharge Mower
Hi RechargeBob,
My dad still mows the lawn with that oldfashioned lawnmower that has no motor or power at all.
The only thing that the machine uses is muscle power
Great exercise, but i will suggest this Recharge Mower to my dad Thanks for sharing!

Re: Recharge Mower
I'm in landscaping and we have to rely on gas mowers for work.
I wish there was another way to deal with our clients, but we can't afford the time to charge a mower to only have 3 hours when it takes about 8 hours a day to mow, and we do so 2 days a week.
We have a self propelled mower and that works quite well, we can be in and out of a property in 20 minutes depending on the size.
If we could use something green, by all means, we would.

Re: Recharge Mower
I made a decision to divorce gasoline as much as possible. I found a rechargeable mower for home use that's about the same price as a gas mower. Then I found a rechargeable trimmer. Recently, I bought a rechargeable scooter (it's considered an electric bicycle) for recreation. We still have a car but it's a Honda and we don't drive much anymore so gas prices don't affect us much.

That's awesome!
We're still loving our mower. I can't get over how nicely it cuts and how comfortable it is. I used my brother in law's gas mower the other day and it felt like I was riding a horse, lol.

Re: Recharge Mower
Hi Bob,
I just stumbled upon this mower today myself, and I really hope one of these will work for me. Do you find that it bogs down at all in heavy grass or on hills? I have a HUGE hilly yard and the narrow deck worries me a bit. Also, how frequently do you have to empty the grass catcher? Frankly I wish there was some way to disable that "feature".
I have looked at other electric mowers and the extremely high prices have made them all out of the question. I was momentarily excited by the Ariens Amp until I found out that it still runs a hydro transmission with all the maintenance headaches of that.
I think if it will handle my hilly yard I will get one, even if it takes twice as long to mow with it, it will be time I can spend listening to the radio or books on tape, instead of with earplugs stuffed in my ears whiffing exhaust smoke.
Thanks for your time!

Hi Dee!
I'm sure that it will handle hills and heavy grass pretty well, it'll just go through the charge quicker and mow a little slower depending on the weight and steepness. The beauty of this mower is that it's a little smaller then an average riding mower, so getting into narrow or awkward places isn't too bad. We've got narrow gates and we get through with no hassle whatsoever.
Better a charge then the stinky gas. As for the grass catcher, it's fairly huge. Even with a big yard I think you could probably do it two or three times before you needed to empty it. Their website says it'll hold about "3 bushels(90 litres)" before it needs to be changed...I think that's pretty accurate. The thing is huge but really easy to change out.
I've had my iPod on while doing the yard and it's nice to be able to listen to some tunes while cutting the grass.
When you get one, let us know what you think!

Re: Recharge Mower
The moderators deleted my last response to you but I wanted to let you know that I don't think you would have very little problem getting up and down hills, but you would probably just go through a charge a little bit quicker.
That grass catcher is huge and I don't think it would be too much of a problem for you. It holds a ton of grass(the website says 90 litres) and it's easy to clean it out.
If you end up getting one, let us know.
