Cool Was just at my local Walmart....

And I noticed something very interesting at the customer service desk.

A sign on the wall states that they sell as much Canadian merchandise as possible, as to create more jobs here in Canada.

Seeing that, I don't think Walmart is as bad as some people make it out to be.

Just my opinion.

I heard on the radio the other day that Walmart will be changing all of it's "Happy Holiday" signs/slogans to "Merry Christmas" - good or bad I guess is in the eye of the beholder. I tend to not visit Walmarts on the grounds that employees aren't treated well (very low pay, not able to afford benefits, etc), and how they drive all of the other markets out of town, due to their "made in china" prices. There was a good show on PBS about walmart's impacts in america: frontline: is wal-mart good for america? | PBS
I'm not sure the differences between walmart in Canada and the US, but I don't think it would be vastly different. Either way it is a pretty good show.

From what I've seen, things seem to be pretty good up here. I haven't heard any complaints about treatment of employees, and I've seen some people working in the Walmarts that have been there for years. It's just what I see, I could be wrong about how people up here feel.

On the topic of being in my local Walmart(I just came home from it).

I found some interesting solar products while I was there.

Moonray solar patio lights(large set, not the small set), solar powered path marker, solar garden decorations.

I really wish I had a digital camera with me when I was there. You had to see it to believe it.

First Hourselover why are you shopping at Walmat? Don't you know it is one the most evil corperation ever second only to the Nazi party. Every country should follow Norway's lead and kick Walmart out of their country. I don't have time to list crimes Walmart has commited, humanrights violations, labor law violation, enviromental. It goes on and on. Go watch the doc. Wal-town check out their web site Wal-Town check out the links. Check out the other movies about Walmart. To think "things seem pretty good up here" you must live in some sort of bubble. I hope you do a little research and realize that your money is best spent somewhere else.

Walmart's latest market conquest is to sell organic vegetables.

I am well aware of the "issues" surrounding Walmart, however, I don't see any of that at my Walmart. Besides my Walmart is a 2 minute walk from my house which is a lot closer than any other shopping where I live.

Would you rather I shop at Zellers where they like to rip you off? I must of spent thousands needlessly at the old Zellers whcih was a 20 minute walk from my old place. That Zellers didn't have much in the way of variety that Walmart does. I used to have to travel to another Walmart to find necessities. Besides the fact that sometimes only Walmart sells what I'm trying so hard to find. And at a good price.

I've personally known people who have worked at Walmart and they've never complained. So why should I shop somewhere else when I've heard different?

Why, in that sense, should I let someone tell me where to shop? It's a free country and I'll shop where I want to. And I'll support the local economy by doing so.
