add 4 million people in Ontario alone in the coming quarter century. all the talk on the "flock of lips" is sustainability in the same sentence as necessary growth and growth demands. population growth and the inherent demands of it will require change that is growing more urgent every day as growth increases.I seriously doubt the GTA can maintain it's Green Bent in the current paradigm of centralization seen in magalopilictic strategies. TENILLE BONOGUORE
Globe and Mail Update
Canadians are officially city folk, with four out of five people living in urban centres.
The first data from the 2006 Census puts Canada's national population at 31.6 million, a rise of 5.4 per cent since the 2001 census.
And most people are living in a metropolis.
Six metropolitan areas now claim more than a million residents. Calgary and Edmonton joined Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Ottawa-Gatineau in the “millionaire's club”, which now houses 45 per cent of the Canadians.
i agree that this is a subject that needs some immediate attention... but i doubt that the 'elected leaders' will soon be addressing it.
simon, why is it that 'common folk' such as u and me and nearly everyone on this site, can see these problems, talk about a resonable soulotions, and if we had the proper resources and 'power' could put them into action... but the people with the power, with the 'expert knowledge', and with the resources do nothing?!
people like us have been saying that chemicals in our food is a bad bad thing for years... now the 'experts' are confirming what we've been guessing for years...
peole like us notice that when your cell phone rings nexts to your TV or monitor it interferes with picture and we say 'that can't be good for your brain' but the 'experts' tell us 'no no, they are totally safe'. then i read the other day that there is something like a 240% increase in cellular brain decay in people who use cell phones as compared to those who don't!!!
its so damn frustrating...
but hey, its all good! i have nothing to fear! the experts say there is nothing wrong with a little extra CO2 in the air!

we've got nothing to lose and they will lose nothing not helping us.
People like us that come to the site...well, it's really preaching to the converted. We're all here because we believe in what we're talking about.
Yep, frustrating indeed. But we continue doing what we do and we keep telling those that need to listen. Really, it's like nagging. At one point, they will crumble and actually listen. =)
