I actually knew someone who had a cat who used the toilet. It was an amazing sight to see. The cat even had its own way to flush the toilet. She showed me the device that she used to do it. It fits right over the toilet seat. I remember her telling me about the only problem with it was that she had to use litter in it in the beginning to get the cat to even try. It took over a year to do.

I think a year would be worth the effort. Although I do not think I would have the time (or energy!) to tackle something like this while having little ones running around.

I hear you there. It would be hard to take the actual time to train them to do this. My two sons were hard enough. It is different though.

It wouldn't be so bad with kittens because you had to train them to a letterbox anyway. But can you imagine the hassle that you would have to go through for an adult cat?

I don't think I would try it with an adult cat. I have found kittens obviously much easier to train period when it comes to the litterbox.

Can you imagine what it must be like trying to train the big cats? I mean like lions and tigers and leopards. How do you rub their noses in a pile they shouldn't have made? :-) I do wonder if you could train them to use the toilet? LOL that would definitely be funny to see.

LOL, oh the thought. hehe
I think if I had a "big" cat, I would let them go where ever they wanted to.
Don't think the toilet would be strong enough to hold a big kitty.

I think it would be strong enough, because there are four paws would be on the floor. And if I had a "big" cat, I would definitely let that it go wherever it wanted. But, I definitely wouldn't have anybody breaking into my house!:-)

[quote=Jessica;10867] I know a women whose cat used to throw up all the time but the problem stopped after she switched to a wheat based litter.
I have four cats including a recently passed 20 year old and none of them had a problem switching to the corn and then wheat litter.
The two brands I have used had tips for acclimating picky cats to the new litter.

I think it's great that your cats had no problems with corn or wheat, but some cats, like mine, throw up when they ingest grains. My cat used to foam at the mouth slightly and vomit when I used corn litter, and a pet nutritionist told me that it was not so uncommon for cats to have difficulty with corn. Like you, though, I avoid clay litter as well.
