Re: Biodegradable icemelt
Horselover, what I am interested in finding out is if your hands are STILL green?

Lol, they haven't been green for a while now. It washed off pretty easily.

Re: Biodegradable icemelt
Luckily I have a few friends in landscaping so I've already asked them about it. I believe there are depots and such for supplies that landscapers use and it should be pretty readily available at sources like that.

Re: Biodegradable icemelt
I will have to check with a landscaper because there is none to be had anywhere in my area. Winter is almost over here but I will remember this for next year.

Re: Biodegradable icemelt
Well, if anybody finds out what the name of it is but the rest of us know. I'm not going to be living in Phoenix forever. I am the youngest and most of my family will be gone soon. When that time comes, I will be moving to a Washington where it does snow and I will want to know the name.

Re: Biodegradable icemelt
I believe the name of the actual product is in the link in the first post. The only thing is it doesn't seem to be sold at very many places yet.

Nope it doesn't seem to be sold at many places.
I think only landscapers can buy it in bulk, which would explain why it's not readily available to the public.

Re: Biodegradable icemelt
There was something on the news about them using beet juice in place of the regular ice melt on the roads. I have friends who use it because it doesn't harm their trees and plants (they have a 1/4 mile driveway). They love the stuff even though it does attract wildlife.

Re: Biodegradable icemelt
Never heard of that. I don't like beets, so I'd probably never use it, and attracting wildlife in the city isn't what I want. We have coyotes about a kilometer from our place and I'd rather not see them down here.

Re: Biodegradable icemelt
Well the beet juice works well and the best part is that it doesn't kill the plants and trees when it gets to them. I wonder if they could just add something to it to repel the animals...
