Re: The "No Computer" Rule
Tough to go for it very strictly, at least having it for once a week is a must but for kids I totally agree that it can be avoided. I would encourage my kid to have more outdoor games and learn by reading good books from library rather than sit and surf whole day at such young age.

Re: The "No Computer" Rule
I know some parents who managed to pull off no tv or computer after 8 p.m. with their teenaged kids. The kids have made up for it by spending more time on the phone, but at least the electricity bills are down.

Re: The "No Computer" Rule
I love all the ideas, but fire/candles is worse than electricity...I would not advise in doing that.

Re: The "No Computer" Rule
Interesting indeed, in fact it is only those rare times when I can not sleep that I am on past 9pm actually. I have cut down quite a lot on my computer time though

Re: The "No Computer" Rule
i turn everything off too just to save electricity. It's amazing how much power things like a big screen TV will consume even when they're off.

Re: The "No Computer" Rule
hmmm... a day without the use of the computer..... wonder how that would be :P It would be a great idea though to cut back on my usage of the computer. I find myself sitting in front of my monitor for hours :-\

Re: The "No Computer" Rule
I've had to do it myself before with no computer. It's not easy, but it can be done.
When we went away, we turned off the power bars, no sense having things on when we weren't even in the country.

Re: The "No Computer" Rule
I also make sure to turn off my computer before bed every night! Hard to use it when you're sleeping isn't it?
