Default Green holiday tips

It is holiday season in many parts of the world and I just thought how even in a holiday we can do little things that help the environment....
  • first if it is possible try to go to a place that is off season...I mean that has lesser crowds...it will not only be good for you to have the place to yourself but also help in overstraining the sources.
  • Always carry less and do not carry things that you may throw away like soda bottles, plastic wrappers etc. If you do have to throw something...find a dustbin!
  • If you can avoid air travel that is good because it uses a very large amount of fuel and also leaves some gases that are environmentally hazardous.
  • Do find out if the area you are travelling to is environmentally sensitive or not.
  • Use public transports wherever possible or just walk
  • Many times the soveigneers you are bringing back may be actually endangered like corals, shells, elephant tusk products etc. And if you are buying these stuff you are also promoting the illegal killing of animals so be smart and think before you buy....

You bring up a lot of great points. The one that is so true that a lot of people never think about is the souvenirs that people buy like the corals. I just read not to long ago how the corals and the fish that are taken from the ocean are destroying the coral reefs. You would think that you would not be allowed to take the coral or fish from the reefs?

You would think that, at least I would think that you wouldn't be able to take the coral. That is quite odd indeed.

actually there are many ways by which people do manage to take corals hiding it somewhere....those who want it badly enough for showing off....
sometimes the people who sell them..illegally ofcourse...also pack these corals among other items and courier it.....so I have heard.
