I have started using only ink pens nowadays because these are one time buys where I have to just refill the ink...whereas earlier i was either using plastic pens for which i had to again buy plastic refills or was just using throw away plastic pens....In both cases I was throwing plastic away as a waste into the nature...so thought why not use ink pens instead....

I never thought about using disposable ink pens. I just have always bought the throw away ones but you do bring up a good point about using the refill ones.

Yes, it is a good point that I never considered before. I love those gel pens that write like an old-fashioned fountain pen, but when they're empty I chuck them into the landfill for God knows how many thousand years? I'll have to reform and perhaps look for those old fashioned fountain pens. I don't even know if they make them anymore.

Mostly I use regular plastic pens and like everyone else just throw them away without thinking. This is a good point and I think I'll switch to refillable pens and perhaps use more pencils in the future.

I used to use the refillable ink type ones but then kept forgetting to buy the refill cartridges, which was a pain. I resorted back to the cheap plastic ones, purely because I could have a dozen lying around and at least they'd work.

I love those gel ones also but they sure do use the ink fast. I am going to check out how much the refill are. Cannot hurt to check them out.

Actually..it is best to use the fountain pens...even the ones with cartridges are finally plastic wastes...i mean the empty cartriges are thrown away and adding to the waste....
So the best option is to use the old fashioned fountain pens where you have to fill the ink....

I know for sure there are some superb varieties avaiable by reknowned brands like park avenue, reynolds etc. and a lots of chinese ones.....

I use markers. I don't think you can refill them so I have to throw them out when I'm done.

that is my point...I just found out that we throw away every day approximately 12 billion pens around the world....so imagine...a simple pen is creating so much havoc....

What about refillable lead pencils? Wouldn't they be good, b/c you'd be reusing the plastic pencil part and no lead to throw away b/c it's used up. Just a thought.
