Default Eco friendly ice melters

So it's almost time for the snow to start falling and for it to get icy.

This year, help do your part for the environment and don't use salt on your walks or driveways.

Eco friendly ice melters are fast becoming popular, Homedepot has 3 different kinds of them for sale, I saw today. And they're very reasonably priced.

Unfortunately I can't find any of them on their website, but that seems to happen a lot.

I found the information on the Alaskan Ice Melt site, Ice Melting Solutions Ice Melters Traction De-Icer Salt Canada, this was what I was looking at today. The resealable bag goes for $11.29 at Home Depot.

I appreciate all the ways in which Home Depot tries to promote sustainable living. I wish my neighbors would use eco-friendly ice melters. There are a lot of domestic animals on my street, and salt does so much harm to their paws.

This stuff is safe for use around animals, it's just too bad not everyone gets the idea to use it.

Unfortunately, many people are more worried about their pocketbooks rather than the environment.

But, if the salt damages your driveway, you'll wind up paying 10's of thousands of dollars as a result of spending $2.99 per bag of salt.

exactly...many people do not actually visualise the future problems and the amount of money they will have to spend to undo the problems they have created themselves...so it is better to think before you do...and make a smart choice while cleaning the ice....

I like that this is also safe for cars. We get plenty of ice here and I hate to use anything that is unsafe for the wildlife!

Well, being in the landscaping business, we need to look at keeping our clients happy. If we damage their property at all, how are we going to pay for the damage caused? It would put us out of business.

It's a shame to hear that things like this are not part of the law. Maybe they should start ticketing those who are caught using salt to melt ice

You're right fresh, but until that happens, we all have to do our part, until somehow it does become a law.

Considering that there are green initiatives and pesticides are banned, salt should be banned as well.
