Hi. I am a lifelong environmental non-activist (mostly). I was very active in the environmental movement in the sixties and seventies, was a pamphleteer for Pollution Probe, active in ZPG. My focus since the seventies (particularly this last decade) has shifted to global oil decline. I am the published author of "Oilephant Down: Canada at the End of the Age of Cheap Oil". I run my own peak oil blog and an online peak oil forum. I actively participate in several other online peak oil forums, and contribute to two online web sites besides my own blog. I participate in live peak oil forums as a presenter and speaker. The focus of my peak oil activism is to try to get the crux of the peak oil debate shifted from transportation energy to issues of food security, overpopulation, environmental destruction, destruction of natural soil fertility and redevelopment of infrastructure to that suitable for the coming post oil world.

I will be speaking in London, Ontario on October 11 if anyone is interested in learning more about peak oil and the inter-relationship to the environmental issues, and the implications for our society on the other side of peak oil. Come on over and have a listen.

Don't worry, I won't spout yoga-speak or tell you to go out and commune with nature (although you should, darn it!). I'm a few years out of college and am encountering corporate America and the corruption and money games that go right along with it. I'm an avid reader of Mercola.com, a proponent of natural living, and am impassioned by issues like global warming, safe and natural energy sources, endangered animal and land conservation, and organic versus chemically processed food/nutrition. I actively petition politicians on these and other issues on a regular basis (they HAVE to be sick of me by now) and support the efforts of various organizations working to make our planet a better place. I'm thrilled to find this website and ready to discuss anything! Well, anything planet-related that is.
