Raptor and all, I hope this is alright to have her join. I feel very strongly that if we teach children how important this is at a young age, it will stick with them. They have a very unique way of looking at issues too, and sometimes they have ideas to offer that we in all our adult wisdom, do not see. I watched the site carefully to make sure it was appropriate for her before I allowed her to join. I'm glad it is being monitored. Another thing is children talk to peers and adults so she can help spread the word too.

Hey, I'm not a moderator but I think it's a great idea! Hi Muffin!!
I think we could all learn from each other. And when a child is interested in a topic that is important, I'd hate to see that enthusiasm quashed. And we should never underestimate what a child can teach us. Welcome!

I don't see a problem with this myself. I'm glad you're getting your child involved with the environment, and there's no better place to start than here.
Welcome to our site and I hope you learn a lot from us here.

I am 10 years old. me and my best friend are interested in the environment. some of the kids at school are too but some people are stupid and throw trash everywhere and hurt the trees by painting them and cutting them.my neighbor teaches me a lot about it like plants and trees and he recycles anything you can recycle. we have been learning stuff at school. we went on a boat trip on the delta that mom told you about and another one to the water plant to see how they treat our drinking water. we went to a place that had animal care and preserve the wildlife in our area. we don't buy a newspaper so it doesn't have to be recycled and mom goes around behind me turning off all the lights and makes me take shorter showers. we learned on the boat trip about plankton and fish and polution and we sampled the mud and the water. we caught fish and looked at them then they let them go.we learned lots of stuff. i like animals too.
