Default Driving on the yellow line

It's a dangerous place to be that yellow line. You've got traffic on both sides of the road trying to smash into you and getting mad that you almost had a collision with them. To stay there, you really need to swerve back and forth to avoid disaster. Of course this can sometimes lead to over correction.

I think that's how I'm going to come across. Swerving back and forth, a little extreme sometimes, and down right annoying at others.

Right now I live in Vancouver, BC. I'm working at small jobs looking for something that I really want to do because I've already been through one "career" and I'm not jumping into that life without careful thought again.

I come at environmentalism having studied engineering and economics. I got some hands on experience working in environmental modeling and ocean shipping for a multi-national mining company.

I've been involved directly in two mining related environmental "challenges" and I find it incredibly funny that the Greenpeace vessel has been charged with an environmental infraction upon entering port in Alaska

Thanks for the comments, sorry about the late reply but my life took a turn for the crazy shortly after signing up for this board.

I'm now in Toronto, finishing up a contract for an academic named Richard Florida and soon to start the crazy again.

I'll try and be a bit more frequent a visitor but I make no guarantees

I definately want to spend some time going over this great collection of discussions. I'm certain that mining these types of forums for good ideas could be invaluble. The next step is putting them into action, which I'm pretty convinced we need more of right now.

My focus right now is more on economics because if things fall apart then the environment gets a back seat again and it's been there for to long imo. I'm also interested in working on establishing more connections between the environment, the economy, and civil unrest.

I don't think anyone would disagree that these things are connected but it's just the matter of 'prooving it' that needs to be done now far to many skeptics.
