My husband has all his musical and computer equipment plugged into the extension strips, so all he has to do is flick one switch and everything is turned off.

Yes, I believe the EPA calculated that the average American household loses at least 50 watts a day when equipment is left on standby mode.

I never leave anything on standby. Everything gets fully turned off at night except the fridge obviously.

From my point of view it's more about safety than anything. I'm not taking any chances of an electrical fire starting.

perhaps if you had a specific plug strip that is just for chargers.. tell everyone to use that one... then you can turn them all off at once...
