By replacing you traditional incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescents does several great things.

For one the CF bulbs use less energy.

Next, they last about six times longer and only cost twice as much.

Third, they radiate less heat.

Last, they emit a little softer and are more pleasing for your eyes.

I actually find them brighter, and I worry about breaking them. While it's not as easy to break them, it is possible, and I've done so already. Didn't feel too good after it broke since I was sitting beside it for most of the time it was broken and didn't know it for a long time.

but isnt it that these cfl lamps too are now supposed to be not very good for the environment....although they are better and aconomical than the conventional bulbs?

I like them just for the fact that they last so much longer then you average light bulbs. I had heard something about the CFL bulbs not being good also but never really looked for information on it.

I also like them tater because they do seem to last so much longer
