Default Cars running on cooking oil....

I found this clip from Mythbusters where they use a Mercedes with a diesel engine and fuel it with used oil from a commercial fryolator. I dont know how clean burning this is and its mileage is slightly less than diesel, but if this went mainstream it would take a huge amount of demand off of the gasoline, not to mention reduce the amount of cooking oil that is simply tossed away. The potential here is pretty exciting.

Im not sure how to embed here, or if we are enabled to do so, but here is the link.

I saw that episode and found it interesting. If I recall correctly, there's a restaurant on Dufferin St that runs their vans on cooking oil. It may not be Dufferin, I just can't remember exactly but I know I saw it in the last couple of weeks.

It was south of Wilson, closer to Lawrence or Eglinton. They are parked in the lot, south of the building and state what kind of fuel they use.

definitely a cool concept. There was one of these cars that used to park close to where i worked this summer. Reading about it I discovered that some of these car owners get their oil for free. Restaurants normally have to pay to get their used oil taken away. only thing is some restaurant owners will think one who does this is a little crazy. There were even workshops/info on converting your car in montreal this summer.

here's the article I was able to find: http://www.montrealmirror.com/2006/082406/people.html
(if someone bugs me i might go looking for more)

edit: can't find the workshop info, but i did find this: http://www.vegetalcar.com/ warning: french!
