Default Horrible sight today

I was walking to the bank and I passed Black Creek on Jane south of Wilson. The creek level was a little high due to last night's rain, but that's not what caught my eye.

What I saw was what looked like a neverending trail of gasoline flowing down the creek. When I passed by almost half an hour later on my way back, I could still see a little of it there.

It disgusts me to see something like that where wildlife still lives.

Do you have a local authority you can report that to? If it's substantial enough, it will get cleaned up and they can determine it's source.

Unfortunaetly if you try to get it dealt with you get the runaround. No one seems to know who's supposed to deal with it. You get all kinds of excuses.

The amount of gas in the creek wasn't substantial enough for anyone to have done anything about, and was mostly downstream by the time I returned back that way.

Plus there's no way to determine exactly where it came from.

I, too, have seen small fuel (gas, oil, who knows?) slicks in local creeks and rivers on occasion. I've often been tempted to grab a sample and give it to a local news station just for the hey of it, but never took the time. I'm going to tuck a small jar into my purse right now for that very reason. Will let you know if anything ever comes of it! :

Usually, if you have a sample, it is very possible to pinpoint the source of the leak, but environmental agencies will only invest the time and expense if the spill is extensive. There is no arguing with the lab results they produce!

Well the only environmental specialist on t.v in Toronto that I know of is Bob Hunter, but he can't help since he died last year.

Unfortunately it's too late to do anything about it. I just wish I'd thought of something yesterday when I saw it.
