Lightbulb Scorecard.org

I found this website and thought it was interesting:

Scorecard Home

You input your zip code and it tells you about pollutants in your area.

I thought it was pretty cool. My area is poor for pm-emissions and nitrites in the water supply. Nitrites/nitrates are basicly run off from pesticides on the crops. It's an agricultural area. I don't really know what pm-emissions means as opposed to simply emissions. Maybe I should google it.

PM-Emissions are particulate matter' emissions.. this means it is from things like combustion.. industrial areas where coal is burned for instance... the coal produces ash which releases into the atmosphere forming the particles... In rural and agricultural areas, confined animals on dry un compactedflooring, can raise particle by trampling it and raising the 'dust' intot he atmosphere..

Thank you for sharing this website. I had no clue which companies were putting out the most pollution. Some of them were actually very surprising to see on the list.

Thank you for the very detailed explanation stav! In my area the animals would be the likely cause as there is very little industry in the county.

Sounds like it mom..

Sometimes we forget that the natural world produces some of the pollution that we blame man for. Such as Methane for one thing.

Apologies, looking at my post above it is full of spacing and typing errors. I was supposed to be working and rushed it a bit!
