I heard this on TV, but i found a pretty good link on the internet that says basically the same kind of things. I personally think we should get rid of all of our plastic products. 50 years ago we used glass for everything. Think about how few people had cancer then. Today we hardly ever use glass for anything, everything is plastic and everyone seems to be getting cancer and all kinds of other things.

This one is such an important issue although bottles just barely scrape the surface. I am completely opposed to plastic of any kind if its only purpose is to create trash. Plastic bottles, plastic bags, plastic wrappings, etc. I don't really have a problem with plastic when it's part of something like computers or medical devices.

Another issue with most plastics are that they derived from petroleum and if you think about it, most things that are derived from petroleum are hazardous to our environment.

Our oceans: Ever researched the Pacific Garbage Patch (Pacific Gyre)? It's an unbelievably huge trash deposit located at a spot in the ocean where there is hardly any current. What kind of trash? Plastic...of course. And the scary part is it will be there forever since plastic doesn't break down.

Our air: Whether you believe in global warming or not, emissions from petroleum (factories, engines, etc) are severely damaging air quality. I recently learned that in addition to the well known fact that plastic doesn't biodegrade, neither to emissions.

Our land: Landfills are full of plastic (which again doesn't break down). Chemicals from petroleum and its by-products are poisoning the earth, its animals, and ummm...us.

All around, it's pretty scary stuff.
