Having said that, butts are disgusting and so is smoking.
I'm so glad I have left that filthy habit behind and not sure why I ever did it. Oh wait a second... I was addicted.

Re: Cigarette Butts
Yes, there is definitely the addiction problem. But what makes us start smoking in the first place? I think it’s the same wilful blindness I have referred to before … we don’t want to know the truth about them, and we won’t allow ourselves to be taught. This is everywhere … people don’t want to know the truth about how their habits and choices affect the world…it’s too inconvenient (to borrow the line).

Re: Cigarette Butts
The only solution is to reduce smoking. Other than that putting out ash trays and such so people have a place to put them. When I was a child these used to be everywhere. Since the ban on smoking there has been decrease ofcourse. I'm glad. I hated that stuff.

Re: Cigarette Butts
I'm thrilled about the various bans on smoking. I really don't understand the hows and whys behind inhaling those kind of pollutants, much less insisting you should be able to do it everywhere and throw your garbage about - other humans and the earth be darned.

It is amazing that anyone could ever inhale that stuff into their lungs. i am sure they hate it the first time, but they are so dtermined that they continue until they are comfortable and even hooked. Yuck! Big Yuck.

Re: Cigarette Butts
I hate cigarette butts. When I was a kid, a younger kid I knew picked one up and was chewing on it-- nasty! Perhaps just having more trash recepticles handy would reduce the problem. Or is that a fire hazard?

Maine and many other states in the U.S. have already banned smoking in public places. For me, it's the best law that's ever been passed. I found it unsettling to go into a restaurant and have an open floor plan divided into smoking and non-smoking with little signs. What the hell is that going to do? What..the smoke from the other side of the room was going to stop drifting around the room when it hit the non-smoking section? And it's nice to go into a bar and actually 'see' who you're talking to, rather than trying to see them through a haze of cigarette smoke.

Re: Cigarette Butts
I hate seeing them scattered but believe it or not I do see people picking them up. I guess they smoke them or roll the left over tobacco into cigs.
