I read a little article and then found a larger article on this thing called the BioShip project. Some freighters now have a generator running on a blend of rendered animal fats and used cooking oil. Not a new idea, but it's nice to see that the idea is being utilized!! The vessel's CO2 emissions are expected to be reduced by the equivalent of about 400 tonnes per year.

I can't imagine what the smell would be like though!!

I remember some college kids did a bus trip in a bus converted to use waste restaurant oil and that was the comment made at the time. Beats carbon monoxide. It might not help the joggers in the neighbourhood trying to lose weight. Got the munchies now!
