Paint allergies.
So I discovered on Saturday that I'm allergic to Alkyd paint.
Once I was finished painting the house I was at, I returned home and started to develop hives.
I'm now covered almost head to toe in them and they're still bothering me today, with new ones still forming.
My mom is allergic to all kinds of paint, but I hope I'm not.
Think I'll ever be able to use paint again?

Re: Paint allergies.
Does the environmentaly friendly types of paint help? Hmmmm. If not, I'd just go into a paint store and ask. But I think you're a little out of luck.

Re: Paint allergies.
I've never tried them, but then again, I only just discovered this allergy.
It's been a week and I still have the hives. Goes to show just how bad my allergy to this paint is.
I think I'll have to lay off painting for a long time, and try again once my reaction has calmed down.

Yes, I would lay off for a few. Maybe if you took some benedryl before you painted that might help prevent such a bad case of the hives? I would check with your doctor and a hardware store and see if their is another type of paint that would be better for you to use. Or better yet just have someone else do all your painting.

Re: Paint allergies.
I wish I could, but I'm really a painter by trade, and it's something I love to do.
It pays well, but it seems like I can't do it anymore.

Re: Paint allergies.
Have you ever heard of milk paint? You can purchase it or make it yourself. There is a wealth of info on it online.

Re: Paint allergies.
I will check it out when I've got time. I'm so busy with work I only get a couple hours online a day now.
