While browsing through my Mother Earth News archive disks a while back I saw mention that you can make paper and cloth out of sunflower stalks. Apparently you can treat the stalks like you would flax to make fiber for cloth, but I cannot find anything on making paper.

I'd like to make my own paper so I can use it in a bookbinding project I've wanted to do for ages now. I want to make a hand-bound (and hand-illustrated if I can find an artist who would donate his time) edition of A Christmas Carol for my public library, but mere computer paper (even if I could get some that is acid free) doesn't seem fitting.

I think you should make the paper from old christmas cards, seems only fitting.

I hadn't thought of that, but it's a good point. However, I am not sure how well homemade paper would go through my bubble jet printer. Homemade paper would likely work for the illustrations.
