Thanks very much Rebecca for a most informative response.

I have one more question I'd like to ask if I may: does compost have such a thing as a shelf life? I mean does it go rancid, become unusable or lose its potency in some way after a certain length of time had passed, or does it last forever?

I can hear you all laughing....but I did wonder and want to be sure Wouldn't want to bag it up and stash it away somewhere for another season only to find I'd wasted it by not using it soon enough.

Thanks for all the great ideas. I've always wanted to compost or have a wormery but I'm limited by small space as well. But, now I think I might give it a bash...

Those were some great tips. I honestly have to say the most complete and easy to follow ones yet. I have heard (and read!)some crazy things about composting, thanks for posting this.

Rebecca, you make composting sound so easy. I like the idea of kicking a barrel around the yard to mix the compost. I could solve two problems, exercise and lawn care. :-)

Those are some great tips. My two sons would love to kick a barrel around the yard. My husband wants to try this so I will have to show him your post.

Well, that would be excellent exercise for your boys and your husband. But wait until you have to spread it around, will your boys won't be around then? :-)
