Well, we're completely off the grid for now, but we'll probably hook into the public water system when we can. I'd like my own well but it probably won't happen for another five years. My older kid thinks we're crazy, but I can tell he appreciates what we're doing.

Yeah, I think my little sister is a bit "off' but I love her and love visiting her. It's quiet and peaceful and I can see the advantages to it. I just wouldn't do it myself.

We know several families that are nearly off the grid; one with a really nice solar power array, and others who are heating their house only with wood and pellet stoves. We are really proud of their achievements.

I live completly off the power grid, and use wind and solar for power. I do grow a bit of a garden and can some of it, but with just myself I dont need much.
