How about telescoping legs, so the towers could be adjusted in height? Regarding the safety of helicopters etc, I think there's a law or directive that structures of a certain height have to have flashing red lights on them for just that safety reason...?

How about telescoping your mom. LOL.

Lets be realistic. It would be millions of dollars to adjust the structure of these windmills to fix the solution. Plus I personally thing they are great! They are clean and for once, do not pollute our environment compared to other sources energy. There must be solutions to the problem. For example, finding areas where the bat population is low, or what Chiron Rising and Raptor235 suggested about repelling the bats with a signal they understand. Nothing is perfect in this world .

Actually, I just found out yesterday that my mom is very ill with what might be cancer, so I'd appreciate it if you didn't bring her up.

there has been some research on this in the UK, and apparently good results are occuring with Radar, as per this article...
