There are some cool solar panels that the military used which can now be bought by the public. The advantage they have over normal panels is that you can drive over them with a jeep. I don't know why you would want to but it's good to know that it wouldn't break

Yeah that's cool, I've seen the new roof shingles that are coming to the market.. those are hardened as well to survive the weather effects... it's great see solar energy really taking off in the last few years.

That sucks about the solar fans. I wouldn't have minded trying one if I had a car, which I don't.

Haha... I love the "bamboo fan cap," totally going out to buy one of those. Actually I'm pretty sure I'd get thing's thrown at me if I wore one of those to school. (Yes, even the feminine style, floral design.) The speckers look awesome though... does anyone know if they work good or they just junk?

The most unusual solar powered gadget that I have run across is the S olar Milk Frother
Just in case you need a cappacino when the power goes out!!
But on a serious note, I am glad to see the innovation and new products coming out all the time!

Neat idea, but just a luxury idea. How many people need cappucino when the power goes out? Something better would be a water heater for hot drinks when the power goes out on a winter day.

Totally true Horselover -- but the title of the post was "unusual" solar gadgets. I bet we could find lots of products if we discussed the practical.

Maybe we should do that. Good idea. Thanks for thinking of it.

The solar industry is really taking off. There's a Victoria company called Carmanah Technologies that's making many innovative solar and LED products.
