Gee, the thought that it would cost more to purchase the solar panels than it did to buy my pc, that's sad. Not worth it.

I live in Phoenix, AZ and I am constantly amazed at how much potential their is for solar panals. I mean, its sunny here 300 days a year! I pay my electricity bill here in the summer and its 250-300 dollars a month. Im sure solar panals would fully run my AC and everthing else in the house. It just seems so obvious there has to be a hitch somewhere. I belive some power companies even pay for your excess power to be dumped back into the grid!

What am I missing here, seriously?

You should invest in a panel or 2. It would save you a lot of money in electical bills.

You can always rent them. This company: The Citizenrē Corporation rents you a unit to power your whole house and it costs nothing more out of pocket then what you already pay for electricity. There is a $500 deposit though.

What you are missing is the cost. You would need a whole lot of solar panels to run your A/C. I would guess you are looking at $20,000 in panels to do what you are talking about. That's a wild guess though. The more informed here should give you a better idea than me. If you could just have enough panels so your meter doesn't move or turns backward a little when the A/C is not running, you would be doing pretty good. It takes a whole lot of electricity to run that A/C.
