June 17th marks the 36th anniversary of the burglars being arrested at the Watergate hotel , burglarizing the Democratic party headquarters. It took two years and alot of investigation and obstruction, but ultimately, Nixon resigned the Presidency rather than be impeached.
Never one to ever praise Nixon, it gives me a mild pain in my head to say that Nixon, in all areas of his governance, wasn't even close to being as big an evil villain as Jr Bush. It doesn't seem like we will have the pleasure of sitting through a Bush or Cheney impeachment trial, but take comfort, Dame Karma gets her due eventually.

Thanks for reminding us Molly. You're absolutely right that Nixon's crimes pale in the face of the evil Bush and Cheney regime. And I do take comfort - you gotta love that Dame Karma, eh!

I hadn't even realized how long its been since Watergate. You guys are right in that that seems mild to what is going on today.

Yeah, it all sounded a tempest in a teapot compared to today; but there were constitutional questions and arguments, a more independent media, and a Supreme Court that liked to make up its own mind, and happened to have all their buttons as well.

trouble is now molly, that all the politicians are in it for personal gain and not a vocation to serve the public.. (yes i know dodgy politicians are not a new thing, but time was they were a minority)

they are careful not to rock the trough they all have their snouts in...

I agree. It's so amazing at what politicans can get away with these days and not get booted from office.
