One more day until the conference!!!!
Today´s quote from Al Gore.

Dear friend,

Tomorrow I'm going to Bali, Indonesia to address the UN Climate Change Conference. In front of representatives from the world's countries, I will speak about the need for a visionary treaty to be completed, ratified and brought into effect everywhere in the world by 2010. I need you, your friends and family to sign this petition calling for a new, positive leadership role by our elected leaders. I will bring your signatures on stage with me as a clear demonstration of our resolve.

This petition shows our commitment to solutions to the climate crisis. Please add your voice today and urge your friends to add theirs. The time for action is now. Only together can we make the change.

Sincerely,

Harper Stop Blocking UN Climate Talks!

International officials and experts have named Canada the worst country in the world on climate change as Canada blocks UN efforts in Bali.

There's still a few hours left to save our country, and the climate. Let's get a massive roar of protest to stop this. Sign the petition, below--we're advertizing the number of signatures in an ad campaign across Canada.

LATEST UPDATE 10:24AM MST - It's late night in Bali, and there is a special session for countries who have signed the Kyoto treaty to try to move forward on carbon targets. After going silent for a day (we thought we had won!) Canada is again the ONLY country blocking action by the Kyoto group!! Sign the petition, and call PM Harper's office on 613 992 4211, or the House of Commons toll free on 1 (866) 599-4999 to talk to your MP

Petition to Prime Minister Harper:

We call on you to uphold Canada's values, stop blocking UN climate talks and immediately start working with other countries towards a new international climate agreement.

Bravo; That says it clearly. The man is a bufoon.

from Wikepedia
John Baird is known throughout the world as one of the most outspoken critics of the environment. He believes that to deal with the environment, Canada should increase the oilsands projects in Alberta tenfold by the end of 2008. He was quoted at the recent climate change conference in Bali: "This plan should take care of the environment once and for all. I just hate it, and I want to be responsible for damaging it as much as possible. Kyoto is a joke."

I find it hard to believe but...

Climate talks 'on brink' of deal

If global temperatures rise, billions will face water shortages

The UN climate summit in Bali is "on the brink" of a deal, according to the UN's senior climate official, as talks look set to extend into an extra day.

The EU has been pressing for a final text committing industrialised nations to specified emissions cuts, but the US, Canada and Japan are opposed.

Check out the press release PR-07-12
American and EU energy regulators meet in Athens to share best regulatory practice (7 December 2007).

It appears that the agreement was made days before Bali.

Thumbs down Re: UN Conference on Climate Change in Bali

Canada's environment minister says he regrets watered-down climate deal

By Alexander Panetta, THE CANADIAN PRESS

"Frankly, I'm disappointed about the lack of progress," U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon told delegates. THE ASSOCIATED PRESS/Dita Alangkara

BALI, Indonesia - Canada helped gut some of the substance from a world climate-change deal and then expressed regret Saturday when the final agreement was ultimately watered down even more than it had hoped.

...................................

Canada sided with the U.S. and Japan in a small group of wealthy non-European countries that successfully removed references to emissions targets for developed countries by 2020.
The treaty was also stripped of references to longer-term targets - which Baird said he had been prepared to accept.
